Question 1

Is Importify legit?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Importify Cars is a trading name of Skar Limited, a New Zealand company registered with NZBN 9429047730229 and company number 7772936, based at 94b Henderson Valley Road, Henderson, Auckland. You can confirm the registration yourself, free, on the New Zealand Companies Register, searching by company number 7772936 rather than by name, since a name search there returns more than one company.

Question 2

Is Importify Cars related to Importify the dropshipping app?

Accepted Answer

No. Importify Cars is a New Zealand vehicle exporter and has no connection to Importify (importify.com / importify.net), the Shopify dropshipping tool. They share a name only, so reviews of the app do not describe this business.

Question 3

How do I know my money is safe?

Accepted Answer

Deposits and pre-purchase inspections are paid by card on this site and processed by Stripe, so they carry the card scheme's dispute and chargeback rights and we never handle your card details. It is our policy never to request Western Union, MoneyGram, cryptocurrency or payment to a personal account, and vehicle balances are settled by bank transfer to a business account, so if someone presenting themselves as Importify asks you to pay that way, check with us before sending anything.

Question 4

What is Importify?

Accepted Answer

Importify is an online marketplace that helps international buyers import high-end, rare and performance vehicles from New Zealand. We handle everything from sourcing, inspections and negotiation to shipping, customs documentation and compliance assistance.

Question 5

Who can buy through Importify?

Accepted Answer

Anyone looking to import a vehicle from New Zealand to their country. We specialise in classic cars, high-performance vehicles and unique imports.

Question 6

What kind of vehicles do you deal in?

Accepted Answer

High-value, rare and performance vehicles: classic muscle cars, JDM imports, luxury sports cars, European classics and custom builds.

Question 7

Can you source a specific car for me?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If you're after a specific car we can source it through our network of dealers, collectors and auction houses, or you can browse New Zealand's huge private market on TradeMe and Facebook Marketplace (set the location to Auckland, New Zealand) and send us the listing link.

Question 8

How long does the whole process take?

Accepted Answer

Shipping times vary by country, but the full process typically takes 4–8 weeks, depending on inspections, documentation and customs clearance.

Question 9

Do you offer pre-purchase inspections?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Independent pre-purchase inspections start from $150 USD. We use New Zealand's most reputable inspection companies, plus specialist contacts for high-end JDM, European and USA vehicles, so the report is completely independent of the seller and the listing.

Question 10

What does shipping cover?

Accepted Answer

We arrange shipping and logistics within New Zealand and internationally to your local port, using a range of trusted freight companies and agents. On the New Zealand end we handle pre-customs cleaning, asbestos testing (if applicable) and the necessary paperwork.

Question 11

Will the car meet my country's compliance rules?

Accepted Answer

Importify ships your car to your local port. We don't take responsibility for whether a vehicle meets your destination's compliance standards, so you'll need to research your country's local regulations before purchasing. Our agent can help connect you with a local agent to clear customs and get the vehicle released, or delivered to your door.

Question 12

What about asbestos (e.g. importing into Australia)?

Accepted Answer

Many classic cars contain asbestos in brake pads, gaskets or insulation, and some countries, Australia especially, require testing and removal before import. We can arrange asbestos testing in New Zealand before shipping to avoid border delays.

Question 13

Are there extra duties or taxes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Each country may have additional import duties, taxes and compliance fees. Costs vary by vehicle size, shipping agent, taxes and value. We can guide you on estimated costs before you purchase.

Question 14

Is marine insurance available?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Optional marine insurance can be added to cover damage and general cover while your vehicle is in transit.

Question 15

Which countries do you ship to?

Accepted Answer

We support 95% of all international destinations, including Australia, the USA, and select European and Asian countries. Contact us to confirm eligibility for your country.

Question 16

How can I pay?

Accepted Answer

Deposits and pre-purchase inspections are paid securely online right here on the site: card payments, Apple Pay and Google Pay, processed by Stripe. The final vehicle balance is arranged directly with our team.

Question 17

Do I need an account?

Accepted Answer

No account needed. You can browse listings, ask questions, order a pre-purchase inspection and place a deposit to hold a car, all without creating an account.

Question 18

What's your cancellation and refund policy?

Accepted Answer

Once a vehicle has been secured, the deposit is non-refundable, and pre-purchase inspections are non-refundable too.
