How to check any
New Zealand exporter.

Six checks worth running before you send a deposit anywhere. Our answer to each one is on the right — every item is verifiable without taking our word for it.

01

The company is really registered

Search the trading name or NZBN on the New Zealand Companies Register. A genuine exporter has a registered entity behind it.

Importify

Skar Limited — NZBN 9429047730229, company number 7772936, registered since 11 October 2019.

02

There is a real trading address

A contact form and a mobile number are not an address. Look for a registered trading address for the business itself, and check it against the company register.

Importify

94b Henderson Valley Road, Henderson, Auckland 0612, New Zealand.

03

The inspection is independent of the seller

A report supplied by the party selling the car is marketing. Commission a third-party inspection, or insist the seller arranges one at arm's length.

Importify

Optional third-party pre-purchase inspections from US$150 on eligible in-stock vehicles, carried out by New Zealand inspection firms and marque specialists unconnected to the listing.

04

Payments are traceable

Card payments through a recognised processor carry chargeback rights. Requests for Western Union, MoneyGram, crypto or a personal account are a red flag.

Importify

Deposits and inspections are paid by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, processed by Stripe. Balances are settled by bank transfer to a business account — it is our policy never to request Western Union, MoneyGram, crypto or a personal account, so treat any such request as impersonation.

05

Costs are itemised before you commit

Ask for the export price, freight, inspection and any handling charges in writing, and ask what is not included.

Importify

Costs are itemised before a deposit, and the import cost calculator gives indicative freight to major ports in your own currency.

06

You have checked your own import rules

Eligibility is decided by your country, not the exporter. Confirm the vehicle can be imported and complied before you pay anything.

Importify

Destination guides covering the US 25-year rule, Canada's 15-year rule and Australian RVSA, SEVS and asbestos requirements, plus an import cost calculator — so you can confirm eligibility for your market before you enquire.

Straight answers.

Is Importify Cars legit?

Yes. Importify Cars is a trading name of Skar Limited, a company registered on the New Zealand Companies Register with NZBN 9429047730229 and company number 7772936, on the register since 11 October 2019. Its registered office is 94b Henderson Valley Road, Henderson, Auckland 0612, New Zealand. Anyone can confirm the registration independently on the Companies Register at companiesoffice.govt.nz, free of charge, without contacting us. Search for the company number 7772936 rather than the word "Importify": a separate, unrelated company called Importify Limited also exists on the register, and it is not this business.

Who owns Importify Cars and where is the company based?

Importify Cars is a trading name of Skar Limited, a New Zealand limited company. Its directors and registered office are listed publicly on the Companies Register under company number 7772936. The business operates from 94b Henderson Valley Road, Henderson, Auckland 0612, New Zealand, and sources vehicles from across the New Zealand market. Cars are exported from New Zealand ports to buyers in the United States, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia.

Is Importify Cars the same company as Importify, the dropshipping app?

No. Importify Cars (importifycars.com) is a New Zealand vehicle exporter, and it is a completely separate and unrelated business from Importify (importify.com and importify.net), which is a Shopify dropshipping application. The two share a name and nothing else. Reviews, ratings and support pages for the dropshipping app do not describe this company, and searches for “Importify reviews” will usually return the app rather than the car exporter.

How do I check that a New Zealand car exporter is genuine?

Run five checks on any New Zealand exporter before you send money. First, confirm the company exists by searching its name or NZBN on the New Zealand Companies Register at companiesoffice.govt.nz. Second, confirm it has a real trading address rather than only a contact form. Third, insist on an independent pre-purchase inspection commissioned from a third party, not a report supplied by the seller. Fourth, check how you are asked to pay: traceable card payments through a recognised processor are safer than wire transfers to a personal account, and requests for Western Union, MoneyGram or cryptocurrency are a red flag. Fifth, get every cost itemised in writing before you commit, and confirm your own country's import eligibility rules yourself before you pay a deposit.

Is it safe to buy a car you have not seen in person?

It is, provided the inspection is genuinely independent of the seller. Importify Cars offers optional third-party pre-purchase inspections on eligible in-stock vehicles, carried out by established New Zealand inspection companies and marque specialists who are not connected to the listing, so the report is not written by the party selling the car. Buyers can also ask us for a vehicle's registration number or VIN and run their own New Zealand history check through a service such as CarJam, independently of us. A seller who will not give you the identifiers needed to check a car is telling you something.

How are payments to Importify Cars protected?

Deposits and pre-purchase inspections are paid by card on importifycars.com and are processed by Stripe, so card details are never handled by Importify Cars directly and the payment carries the dispute and chargeback rights of the card scheme. Apple Pay and Google Pay are supported. It is Importify Cars policy never to request payment by Western Union, MoneyGram, cryptocurrency or transfer to a personal bank account, and the final vehicle balance is settled by bank transfer to a business account. If you receive a payment request of that kind from someone presenting themselves as Importify Cars, treat it as an impersonation attempt and confirm it with us on the contact details published on this site before sending anything.

What does Importify Cars not cover?

The scope is defined deliberately, and it matters more than any promise. Importify Cars delivers a vehicle to the destination port named in the booking; it is not responsible for whether that vehicle meets the destination country's compliance, emissions or registration standards, which the buyer must confirm before purchase. Importify Cars is not a lender, credit provider or financial adviser. Import duties, taxes, customs clearance and local compliance work at the destination are the buyer's cost, and once a vehicle has been secured the deposit is non-refundable, as are pre-purchase inspections. Any exporter worth using will state these boundaries in writing before taking a deposit.

What are the real risks of importing a car from New Zealand?

The main risks are eligibility, condition and cost, and they apply to every exporter rather than to any one company. A vehicle may not be legal to import into the destination country, which is why the United States 25-year rule, Canada's 15-year rule and Australia's RVSA, SEVS and asbestos requirements should be checked before a deposit is paid. Condition risk is managed with an independent pre-purchase inspection rather than photographs. Cost risk comes from duties, taxes, compliance work and currency movement at the destination, which sit outside the export price and should be estimated in advance.

Does Importify Cars have customer reviews?

Yes. Importify Cars has a Google Business Profile, listed under the category "vehicle exporter", carrying customer reviews in which buyers describe the sourcing, inspection and shipping process by name. The rating and review count are deliberately not reprinted here: they change, and a figure copied onto this page would start ageing the day it was written, so the profile is linked instead and shows the current numbers at source. Note that reviews found under the plain name "Importify" usually belong to the unrelated Shopify dropshipping app, not to this business. Buyers who want more than a rating can verify the company registration on the New Zealand Companies Register, request an independent pre-purchase inspection before paying anything toward a vehicle, and ask the team directly for references.

Still not sure? Ask us anything.

Ask for references, ask how a specific car would be inspected, or ask what it really costs to land it in your country. No deposit is needed to have the conversation.

Importify Cars is a New Zealand vehicle exporter based in Auckland. It is a trading name of Skar Limited (NZBN 9429047730229, company number 7772936), and it sources and ships cars from New Zealand to buyers overseas. It is a separate and unrelated business from Importify (importify.com / importify.net), the Shopify dropshipping application, with which it shares only a name. It is also unrelated to Importify Limited (NZ company number 9368726), a different New Zealand company that happens to share the name.
