- The Mondial 8 replaced the Bertone styled 208/308 GT4 as the small 4 seater in the Ferrari line up. Styled by Pininfarina, it's sweeping lines replaced the boxier styling of the earlier model. Through its 13 year evolution there were 4 model variations including a very popular cabriolet. The original engine displacement grew in 1985 from 3 litres to 3.2 and in the final version of the car, the Mondial T, a 3.4 litre unit was installed north / south with a transversely mounted transmission, the T in the name denoting transverse. This was the same engine / transmission configuration as the Formula One cars of the time and has persisted to this day for all the mid engined designs. The 1993 Mondial T was the last example of a 4 seater mid engined Ferrari.
